Tups Indispensable

This is great fly when small mayfly are hatching or in the dog days of summer. Originally the fly body contained the wool from a ram’s testicle but today pleasanter materials prevail.

Materials

Hook – Light wire #16

Thread – 8/0 grey

Tail – Blue Dun

Abdomen – Velveteen – yellow

Thorax – Velveteen – pink

Hackle – Cock blue dun

Tying Instructions

Please the hook in the vice and run on the thread. Tie in the tail.

Dub the abdomen and thorax.

Tie in the hackle and wind on about 6 turns. Secure with a whip finish and varnish.
